Head Football Coach
Freshmen Head Coach
If your student does not have an active sports physical on file with a District 196 school, consider getting a physical done in the spring. The sooner this is taken care of, the easier it will be for you at registration time.
NOTE: For District 196 parents who are obtaining this document during the 8th grade year, send the physical to your Middle School nurse. Physicals in the system are automatically transferred over at the end of the school year. If you obtain the physical after the last day of school, then you will need to send the physical to Brigett via email to Brigett.Hanson@district196.org
Players will be asked to download the HUDL and BAND apps to their mobile device; and have notifications turned on. This will be their primary communication between the coaches. While they have similar capabilities, HUDL is used to share playbook information.
Both apps are generally introduced at summer camp and then again at the start of the season. Their coach will send them an invite to each at the appropriate time. It is the responsibility of the player to reach out to one of the coaches for questions/issues with either app.
The Platform app is also required. It is used for when the kids are in the weigh room. The app guides them in their workout and it is where they log their numbers (reps & weight).
If your player has any questions regarding their equipment or missing/lost equipment, they need to reach out to one of the coaches.
All teams practice on Labor Day!
Assume a 5PM practice start time. All players are expected to be on the field.
Assume the following is needed for each practice unless directed by the coach:
If your player is unable to make a practice (or game) they should communicate this to their Coach via HUDL or BAND as soon as possible.

Depending on the number of players and the opposing school, there could be two 9th grade games; 9A and 9B.

Game change notifications:
Click [here] to access the South Suburban Conference site to request game notifications for all football levels.
Unlike youth football, assume high school practices are ON regardless of the weather. If the fields are too wet or the sky is unfavorable, the players will go inside to workout, review film, talk with coaches, etc...
We have two player led fundraisers each year:
1) SNAP! Raise (email) campaign: This is a flat dollar fundraising campaign where each player creates a profile within SNAP! and submits at least 20 email addresses. The campaign generates the same standard goal for each player. As donations come in, the player can see their progress.
2) Gold Cards (coupon) campaign: Players are expected to sell a minimum of 20 Gold Cards within the campaign window. Typically, each year, the program holds a Gold Card night where all players are sent out to go door-to-door selling any remaining and additional cards. When done, they come back to the school for a meal.
Picture Day is typically the first week of practice; at the end of a practice day. There is no makeup day.
Once pictures are ready, the photographer will provide an online link which will be communicated out. This link is generally available within a few days of when the pictures are taken.
Players will return their equipment/gear after they have played their final game. Coaches will communicate out the details.
The Freshman Coaches typically organize a pizza party for the team that takes place at the school and the cost is covered by the Booster Club/Ladder Crew. Details are sorted out within a week of the last game.
VENMO is the preferred payment type when collecting money for the Booster Club; i.e. Yard Signs, Pride Bricks, SPARQ, Golf Classic, etc.
